Porteous Studio is an independent self-catering apartment
for two people in the historic Old Town of Edinburgh.

The studio is owned and operated by Eilidh Izat and Jack Arundell, a local couple who split their time between Edinburgh and the Isle of Harris. The couple bought the space as a garage in 2016 and spent one year designing and renovating the property before opening its doors to the public in late 2017.

Porteous Studio is designed as a quiet retreat for two people to rest after a busy day exploring the city. The design of the space includes an open kitchen and living area, a bedroom with double bed and separate shower room alongside a handful of amenities including hand and body skincare and a breakfast hamper of fresh, local ingredients.

Natural materials are used throughout which create warm, peaceful  and tactile interior. Clay plaster walls regulate humidity and create a calm atmosphere while limestone tiles that reference the cobbles outside are heated by underfloor heating to keep you cosy at all times. The furniture has been crafted from a single oak tree from East Lothian and sits with presence in the space.

Over the past six years, Porteous Studio has maintained a reputation as one of the top self-catering apartments in Scotland and continues to offer guests an exceptional place to stay in one of the world’s most beautiful and atmospheric cities.
